Aftermarket Cavalier fuel pump -Which one to buy?
Sunday, January 24, 2010 2:01 PM
Hey,

Car has just over 60 grand. I need a fuel pump.

I hear our fuel pumps are known to go out in this mileage range. Girfriend has the same car with 110 grand, no issues tho!I might as well upgrade the fuel pump. Racetronix, MSD and walbro 255 are the ones I can use I believe. Can anyone tell me based on preference, install difficulty and price which one is the best one to get and the corresponding part numbers please. For example, I think the MSD 2225 would fit my car but not sure. I am trying to research it as I write this. Any help appreciated.

that one with harness. SUPER EASY. the harness was plug and play. would never do it differently ever again.

The Racetronix is a walbro 255, but racetronix tap a nipple so the pump dosent get fuel cut when the tank is low and they sell it in a sleeve so it can fit in the F-body fuel pump holder. The Racetronix technically isent for J-bodys but it seems to work just fine.(FYI)

My car also has pretty high milage and i replaced my fuel pump with the racetronix pump and i havent had an issue with it besides installer error (wich were all my fault) and ive also installed this pump on 4 different buddys cars so to me installation is pretty straight forward and easy (there is write up on here just search for it)

Get the racetronix but you dont need harness unless your going for big power.

I agree that the Racetronix fuel pump is a great upgrade, but does he really need such a pump NA??

Thanks for the help guys...Last, I have seen two different install opinions.

1. Having to cut off some of the bottom metal housing of the racetronix sleeve as the plastic holder (in which sleeve is inserted in) has to clip shut or something holding the racetronix sleeve inside?

2. Heard # 1 above was not true; installed perfectly.

Anyone can say which # is correct?

2010 thread man...
But since you bumped it... this is a viable option now as well...
Aeromotive Stealth 11142

Cheapest place to get it, if you have Amazon Prime, is Amazon...
Pump it up!

I have heard this is a much better designed pump than the racetronix. I am thinking I will go this direction.

Roofy has had GREAT results with his Aeromotive Stealth 11142 pump. My racetronix f-body pump is still working great, but if I ever have issues I'll be getting the 11142 pump.

Yes my Aeromotive pump is still working great! As I stated in my pump thread I would heavily recommend the Racetronix upgrade harness with the Aeromotive pump. Here's my how-to thread for reference...

I'm in the market for a new pump to, mines got 333000 km ...
So I'm thinking its time for a change, I've never done a fuel pump before.
Is the stealth a stock replacementr an upgrade?
Is it in the fuel tank or on the harness?
Easy enough for my first crack at a pump. I've got a decent amount of tools and have done a eco swap...
Thx mike

How many kms have been put on them, hopefully better than 10k.
