Does anyone have a pic of a modified warm air intake using the cold air duct theory?
I would really like to see a pic of how it was done on a 2.4L.
Are you asking for a pic of a (CAI) cold air intake?
Here is a quote from a sentence I read on this forum.
"Other JBO members have found the best of both worlds, by using a warm air intake coupled with a cold air duct to bring colder air into the engine bay"
I was just curious if anyone has tried that and what the setup looks like.
Well im not sure what your talking about but this is the set-up i uesto have.
Was a Weapon-R intake i modified to suck in colder air from the front bumper/fender-well
Then i took out the smaller diameter weapon-r piece and used all 3"
And now this is my set up.
pics dark its just a short 3" tube.
Do you like the set up you have now? I am not looking to get major horsepower improvement. I would just like a little sound WITHOUT the common "Honda" sound or 'fart" can sound I seem to hear in my area!!
I am just trying to decide if I should get a warm air (short ) or cold air (long) intake setup.

well, then you need not worry. because the weedwhacker/angry bees/wet fart in a coffee can sound comes from the exhaust, not the intake. on our cars, you will not see any difference between a short ram and a cai, with the exception of being out of pocket quite a bit more for a cai.

Oh god man, just take out your stock air box and stick a cone air filter in there.
Duh! I dont know what I was thinking. I know that is from the exhaust!
So what you are telling me is that adding an intake really does not do much with a stock 2.4l motor? I was always told it makes the sound of your car a little "beefy".
Some have told me that it can help your gas milage, and better throttle response as well.
I read the "write-up" from the jbody "FAQ Library" about air intakes and that is where I got the idea to ask around about the warm air/ cold air mod that was done by some members.
I used to have a K&N typhoon intake with a Weapon R cold air box...together they pretty much made the type pf set up OP is asking for. I have an eco, but the Weapon R box is made to work with almost any WAI on the market, and it fits all 95-05 Js.

You get the "butt dyno" gains from a wai, truth be told it will increase your performance by 5ish hp and will help your economy as well. Mainly its the filter, run a stock paper element filter against a K&N washable filter and you will notice some gains in economy . Also, especially when the hood is open you can get the whistle, chirp sound out of your intake when you up your revs then let off the throttle
FAI FTW!
Go beyond the "bolt-on".

Yes because thats what the OP wanted to know.
With full exhaust and cai I am able to get 400+ miles to a tank. I think my mpg has improved with the upgrades.

Honestly the intake from an ECO and a honda sound totally different to me. Just the engine operating RPM range and manifold design the honds literally stick a coupler off there throttle body and its a straight shot wich equates to a loud as F**K intake noise.
I personally cant hear my intake over my exhaust but ive been told it sounds very good from a couple buddies of mine (M2, Ecocav and FreqZ) when im at WOT coming towards them.
but i know what your getting at with the intake noise. Most stock airboxes are designed resonate those frequencies out to quiet that noise so any aftermarket one you get is going to make noise.
What you're basically looking at is a short ram with an air bong like the stock intake has (useless). Just do the smart thing and buy a short ram from eBay and be done with it.
