Im just getting into the 2.4s and know they have a reputation for poor oiling systems, so I was wondering if theres an aftermarket oil pump that works better than the stock 2.4 one that bolts on, if not I guess I'll have to look more into the 2.3 oil pump swap but for now I'll see what everyones got to say.
if im not mistaken the melling pump provides a little bit better oiling but dont quote me on that.

I bought the melling pump for my 2.4 when i rebuilt it,and just comparing the stock to the melling i couldn't tell the difference in anything.
Okay, well i pulled a 2.4 from a donor car today and going in a 99 z24 soon but I wanted to get some opinions while i still have the engine out. I would attempt the 2.3 swap but involves drilling and tapping the block (which im sure you already knew) and i dont know if im quite comfortable doing that.

Did you open both pumps up to see the insides?

So this must mean the melling is noticeably better than the stock LD9 oil pump? I'm looking into doing the oil system when I rebuild and wasn't sure if I was gonna go with the 2.3 or the melling.
Better then stock yes... but if you want to rev above 5800 safely (with out dropping psi) go with the 2.3.
