JBP crate engines
Friday, March 13, 2009 7:24 PM
This is just a random question that I just want to know what people think...there's absolutely, positively no way I'm going to do this for fairly obvious reasons...
On JBP.com:
http://www.jbodyperformance.com/new/PartList.php?catId=11&catName=Machine%20Shop&subCatId=29&genId=3&genName=3rd%20Generation
They sell crate engines that can be configured with apparently just about any internal performanceoption short of boost equipment that you can think of: rods, pistons, crank, gaskets, etc
So say for instance my engine was shot and I magically had say $5k to spend on anything and I didn't want to replace it with a stock--maybe looking to do build...
Would this be the way to go??? Or is that a little too expensive to buy either the Eco or LD9 from JBP with some options and then go with other stuff once you get it in the car.
In a way to me it sounds like the perfect answer--why go looking for parts and a quality used engine when you can buy both new in the same package (remember this is the LAZY in me talkin')???
I gotta admit it seems like a lot of money considering you could buy a whole other car for that much. But now my inexperience and youth is probably showing so I'll shut up and let those who know what's good talk.....just drop your 2 cents.

x2

Read this: http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=22&i=48064&t=47867&p=1

On the first page are some lovely pictures of what a piston should NOT look like.

Stay away, nothing but trouble.

Haha, we do pretty much everything. Motors are something that we love to do. I have a tech here that is ready to go. I can provide the motor or you can send me yours and we will take care of it and send you a photo album of the work.

Well if you guys want me to shoot some pics of mine up, I will do so. Also I am putting around 200-205 # of compression on each cylinder still after 10k miles.

would you really trust your hard earned money to a company that can't get the grammer and spelling right on their website? i mean did nobody proof read this before they posted it?

Get all the parts you need in a pile, and drive the car into it.
They will find their way into the correct places.

Lol IIRC, it was 6 seperate rebuilds of either the head or the whole engine assembly
