Alright, So Would a super turbo muffler and a 2.25 mandrel bent cat back without a resonator be a little bit louder than stock? Im going to be using the stock header, downpipe and cat and I want something that wouldnt be as loud as my magnaflow i had on it, but something just a little bit more mellow than stock. I would like to get some suggestions of what you guys are running on your cars. I have the 2.4.
Yeah it'll be semi-quiet. Add a resonator in there and it'll be good
I heard that running a resonator with a cat and a super turbo muffler would be as quiet as stock though. Not sure, but thats what I heard. Thanks.
i have a super turbo on my cav with all stock piping. sounds great, not too loud and not too quiet.
girbach: any clips of this?
And where did you order yours from, in/out size also.
i have turbo back exhaust so it probably sounds a little bit different but mine is 2.5" with 28" thrush resonator, and a dynomax super turbo muffler. i love it. it is a touch louder than stock but not a nuisance at all!
agree w/ vincent. removing the resonator will make it significantly more harsh at WOT. The super turbo is just a step down from a canister style. It still needs a resonator unless you like loud. I've had both set-ups BTW
Alright thanks guys, Thats exactly what im looking for. Something a step up from stock, but nothing as loud as my magnaflow I had on it.
O and for a resonator? Im not turboed but how long should I go?
28" is what i have and should be ok for what you are aiming for as well. i also do not have a cat. so if your using a cat. you would need one shorter than 28"
Alright so ill go a little smaller than a 28. Also, If i get a 2.5 cat back pressure bent would that be the same as a 2.25 mandrel bent?

custom tube inc. has a 2.5" mandrel bent cat back for like 150$ so there's really no reason to go with any thing else - that plus the super turbo (~75$) makes it a very cheap cat-back option. with the stock header and cat any resonator will be fine.
Im taking it to an exhaust shop here in about an hour and they only offer pressure bending and its only like 100$. So i just wanted to know if 2.5 in. pressure bent would be the same flow as 2.25 mandrel bent. This is for an NA engine.

I got mine from Advance Auto parts for $45, it's a 14" 2.25" in/out (the shop i had it installed at just clamped it on to the stock piping w/o a 1 7/8" to 2.25" adapter and chrged me $50 for it
) As for sound clips, i'd love to post some up, but i don't have a camera at the time
Alright just dropped the z24 off at the shop. Having them put a 2.25 in cat back with a resonator and installing my dynomax super turbo muffler. Once i get it back tomorrow ill post some vids. Cant wait to hear what it sounds like!
22" resonator is great for what you are doing. I have a stock manifold and cat but I have a 22" long, 4" round body Magnaflow resonator and a 4"x9" oval body, 18" long Magnaflow Muffler and it is defintely not raspy and is still louder than stock.

oops, i lied
i forgot about a digital camera i had that can record video so i'll have clips up soon
for reference, here's mine with the stock mani and dp, high flow cat, no resonator and 2.5" pipe w/ super turbo:
mine
It was a little raspy at WOT as you can hear. I've since added an LSJ pacesetter header and 2.5" dp and a flo-pro 24" resonator
So neither of your guys vids are with resonators installed?
i have the stock resonator, planning on upgrading to 2.25" piping and installing an aftermarket resonator, maybe headers too.
any suggestions for resonators or headers?
there's a stock resonator behind the cat isn't there?
Nope. Just goes from the exhaust manifold to the cat. No resonator.
