hey guys i have recently started installing my new pillar pod with the 3 gauges i have volt, vacuum, and water temp. But i have yet to figure out how to install the water temp gauge or how to get a reading from this gauge i was thinking somehow wiring it up with the coolant temp sensor some how or something. I just want a simple way of doing this to make the gage read thanks i appreciate your responses
well what do u mean mechanical or electrical all i know is it cam with a temp sensor and wires to install
Electric would be a wire from the sender to the gauge. Mechanical would be some sort of plastic pipe from the sender to the gauge.
Since you said wires, it is probably electric.
There are very few gauges that use the stock sender since it relies on constant voltage in + varying resistance based on temp = varying voltage out. The aftermarket senders read resistance only.
If you have a second gen 4 cyl, take out the single wire "dummy light" sender near the thermostat (should be a green wire) and install your water temp sender there.
If you have a third gen, you should have a water temp gauge on the cluster already... if yours in the cluster isn't working, I'd replace your stock sensor since the ECM needs that signal to properly calibrate timing.
well these three gauges were the only ones i could find in the blue led so is there anything i can hook the water temp gauge up to just to get a reading and make it look like its actually functional. Just like anything that will show a temp reading could i just set the sensor inside the coolant container or the "overflow container"
year/make/model/engine type?
