Update on CAI by AEM

The history:

I recently installed a Nopi edition CAI by AEM on my Ecotec 2.2 and noticed initially that the low end was boosted considerably and the high end only got a hair more up and go. I also noted my gas mileage was not so great at around 25.5mpg, of which it really worried me.

The update:

The low end of course is still a considerable gain from before.

The high end seems to have gotten better, but still not to the degree that the low end has enjoyed.

I just tanked up and I had 296 miles on the trip, and could only get 10.3 gallons to fit in the tank and some gas spilled out. So I probably was needing only 10.2 gallons.

Anyways, that is pretty much a solid 29mpg...

Understand, I have been getting 27 to 28 mpg as the average before the CAI was installed.
I have hit 29mpg before, but it was because of doing a few long trips to Phoenix and back.
We have not had any long trips since the CAI was installed.

I wonder if I will get 38mpg or more with the current list of mods if I do all freeway miles with the CC on? The best I did with a stock set-up was 37mpg driving to Vegas with the CC on going an average of 70mph.

I am happy that this 03 Sunfire has not only got some good pep to it when it needs it, a lot more responsiveness, but it also has 1 more mpg than what I did when I was completely stock. I know whoop-ding, 1mpg, at least its made me happy as that it 12.5 miles more per tank and extends my overall range.

I hope the DC Sports header does the same or better boost performance wise, and hopefully raise my mileage by .25 mpg or better.
