I've got to pull the gas ank on my 95 Cavalier LS but I can't figure out how to get the hoses apart. Two hoses with black plastic fittings kind of make sense and I got them to move a bit with penetrating oil and muscle but still not disconected but the third one with a metal collar is a complete mystery to me and I can't that one to free up at all. Do I need special tools to work these connectors or is there something I can improvise at home?
Thanks, that makes sense now but does that work on the metal connector as well?
Thanks. I'll order that tool and get started.
actually you only need the disconecting tool for the line with the metal collar you simply put it over the line and push it into the collar and then pull it apart. as for the othe two the one next to the metal one you push on the sides and it should just pull apart, the other one on the fuel filter i just slid a wrench between the filter and the fitting and pushed the wrench against the fitting and pulled and it slid right out.my car is a 96 so it should be the same hope this helps.
hope you did F it up like me hehe

That's too bad Letxen3. I sure hope the same thing doesn't happen to me. My tank came in yesterday and I just picked up the hose tool today so'll probably do the tank this weekend. I'll keep your disaster in mind.
why did you need to replace your fuel tank?

Rust, if I filled the tank more than half full it leaked.
you could have gotten a plastic tank from the junk yard, no?
If I would have known about the plastic gas tanks I would have gone that way. I found a new steel tank for $98. so that didn't hurt too bad. Dealer or should I say stealer wanted $1200. for the same tank.
$1200 for a tank... seriously? My new steel tank was about $120 new, I just picked up a next to new plastic tank, along with sender and pump for $100...... wow.
That's a deal and a half.
