which one?

Im looking for a new muffler for my 2003 sunfire. I want to get a magnaflow 5x8 (i think thats stock size) but im not sure if i should get the center/off center or the center/center. Im not looking for a performance upgrade just want to add a little bit of a deeper sound to the car. Also what size in and out should i get, its going on the stock pipe? So what do you guys think i should go with? Thanks for the help.

stock pipe is 1 7/8 outside. just changing the muffler isn't going to change the sound for the better.

On YouTube there's a posting of a 2.2L S-10 w/Flowmaster Deltaflow 50 that has a nice note. Tried repeatedly to get the guy who posted it to tell me what size pipe he used but got no response. Anyhow, 2" in/out should suffice with no other mods. Also: Many here have combined Cherrybomb glasspacks or Magnaflow tube-style race mufflers (Of about 22-31" total length) mounted just aft of the catalytic convertor to act as a resonator to the raspiness & tinniness (Not to mention overall noise) of the exhaust to help give it a deeper tone.

Go beyond the "bolt-on".

Hey thanks for the help. Should i get one with a center in/ center out or center in/ off-center out? Do they have different notes? Which one sounds better?

Offset inlet / center outlet to match the layout of the stock exhaust. You will also need a short lengthen of straight pipe and a tip/turn down for the end, because the mufflers are usually shorter than stock. As for the muffler strap that holds the muffler, they usually need to be modified to work. Cutting the re-bend the strap, cut it to length and drill a new bolt hole to match the strap to the new mufflers dimensions.

Just changing to an aftermarket muffler usually makes the car sound like rice. Proper research of a good system will yield a better sounding exhaust system.
