HO intake question.
Thursday, February 07, 2008 3:43 PM
On my intake manifold is there going to be a vacuum leak where my throttle body bolts up? It is a 2.4L TB and it is just bolted on it 2 spots.(top left bottom right) I just bought it and was wondering if this would be an issue.

Read the FAQ it definitely talks about this.

You'll be fine with 2 bolts though.

2 bolts holds the throttle body to the manifold just fine. The 2.4L bolt holes need to be drilled a little larger to accomidate the larger diameter 2.3L bolts.

It has the 2.4 tb on it. the whole thing is already modified to fit on the car. Thats what he told me any way.
Another question. Does this modification effect the reliability of the car? My dad seems to think that if I put it on it will make the car unreliable.

Define "unreliable."

Mine has treated me fine for the 4+ years I've had it.

Not running properly sometimes and not starting or always breaking down. I suppose a vacuum leak would be a big thing in the unreliable aspect of this upgrade. Seems like if you use the gaskets properly and bolt everything right it should be fine. My dad is just trying to get out of helping I think. Just doesn't want to have to make a new intake pipe.

Does it mess up any factory tunes on the engine? I know it has to reset the computer when you first start it up, but is that all?
Pretty much just plug and play?
