where do is the senser? im have trying find it pics would be great also the temp gauge as well..thanks
The stock oil pressure sensor is on the front of the block under the intake manifold, above the starter. The temp sensor is on the back side of the motor it is right below where the hoses connect from the heater core.

It can be reached from the top.

do you have a pic of the senser?
what are you going to do when you find it? just tap into the wires? I woulndt
if you want a pressure guage do it right. buy a guage. then mabye a sending unit and pull the oil plugs out of the side of your head, and use that.

i got my gauge already it says i need a t fitting got that two..now what?
you have to play legos.
you need to find the fitting size from the guage, and if you want to use the head location your going to have to by the adapter fitting, then its just a matter of running a line between the two with ends that will bolt up.
the only problem though, is that these mechanical guages are loud, if you run it with out a sending unit, your going to hear an annoying hiss depending on the quality of the guage.

The ecotec is completely metric. There is a fitting needed that you can get from autometer, I believe the size on the eco is 10x12.75 if I remember correctly and don't "T" off the stock sensor, that is a high pressure port, use one of the ports on the side of the head, the ones that are right near the EGR blockoff plate.

4 Cams...32 Valves...5 Liters...This Could Get Fun!
im having trouble still finding it...
i have to take the intake manifold off to get to it but thats no biggy so, now i have 1/8 fitting will that fit?
To tap senders or gauges for oil pressure or temperature, just pick up one of the sandwich adapter plates from glowshift. Its an anodized plate that screws into your motor where the oil filter screws in, and then your oil filter screws onto that (sandwich). It has like four different ports for whatever you may need, and includes plugs for the ones you will not use. Real easy way to get oil.
A sandwich plate will not work on an eco...the oil filter housing is cast into the engine.
Look behind and below your power steering resevoir...there are two torx bolts on the head. Use one of these.
The fitting you need is a 12x1.75-1/8" npt.
Thats weird, I thought all oil filters pretty much screw in the same way. I'm new to the ecotec though, so I'll have to take a look at it.
Guessing by how you don't know where your filter is, take that bad-boy out. You may as well replace it if you're going to be pouring oil everywhere.

If you wanted to run oil pressure and oil temp gauges, should you use both torx bolts, one for each, or just one torx bolt and T it off?
first off ..... your sensor will have a need a differnet socket ull need to get it at the parts store, just t it off teflon sucks go to home depot and buy this stuff called TFE paste its great, and it works wonders with fuel fittings too. and most eco's will never build over 65psi i beleave.
Here is how I did it on my last Ecotec.
Ok here are the pics of the install on my spare head...
This is the 12x1.75 adapter fitting
This is the oil supply line and fittings
This port is on the right side of the head just under the fuel lines.
Install the 12x1.75 adapter and crush ring, Be sure to use teflon tape/paste on the threads. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!!!
Using some teflon tape/paste cover the threads to this 1/8 AN fitting and thread it into the 12x1.75 adapter. I reccomend doing this step OFF the head to avoid over tightning the the 12x1.75 fitting into the head.
Now you can thread your oil line onto the AN fitting. DO NOT use teflon on the AN fitting as they do not require it.
I do not have it pictured but the other AN fitting will thread onto the oil pressure sender (pics soon)
Remember I said to not over tighten? Lucky for me the broken end came out of the head very easy!
short how to, but it's still good. Just one question, how long of a line do you recommend?
yes yes yes srry about bringing a thread back from the grave lol
I did the same thing to my metric fitting... snapped right off! And yeah, the broken threads come out easily. Glad I bought 2!
