So I noticed that there is a gp for tb boring. I have searched and found that a n/a car should go no more than 56 mm. At the moment I only have a wai I am about to redo my entire exhaust and put in a shift plus. I would like to build the motor up slightly and I think the throttle body wouldn't be to bad to add in eventually. What I want to know is with a full exhaust at no bigger than 2.5 and a wai and no internal work would it be worth it to invest in a bored out throttle body and more importantly would I need to tune the car afterwards. I want to get the a ported head maybe the oversized valves and possibly a cam regrind. but more likely to try and blow my engine with no more than 8 psi when I do that I most definitely will tune it then but am wondering would I need a tune with just the over bored throttle body? I am really looking for some serious knowledge from guys like Madjack and Notec, but any positive help is so greatly appreciated.
There is no need for tuning with just an exhaust and WAI with 56mm tb

I do not know if I would say that. Since we truly have not had a affordable tuning option until the last year or so you can do those mods without tuning (we have been doiong it for years). I think people are just starting to see what is possible. I know since owning HPT I have seen things that is blowing my mind. I have a simple bolt on 2.4 car. The amount of KR I was getting was unreal. That was on 89 octane. 93 octane made a big difference. Could extra gains be made with tuning after the mods you are talking about? Sure. Is it needed? Well depends on how you look at it. With what you are talking about doing in the future HPT would be a good investment. You can learn now and get some gains (even if they are small) and be ready when you boost.
FU Tuning
Thank you that was really my main concern wondering if tuning was needed. The other thing is would it be worth the investment of a bored out throttle body even if i didn't boost or build up the car just bolt on?
you can bolt that bored tb right on and have no problems whatsoever, the car will run just fine without tuning. BUT, if you would like to yeild the best possible HP output from it, tuning would be the way to go to achieve it.
EXAMPLE (not the way it is, EXAMPLE):
say a TB gives 5whp, with tuning you might possibly be able to sqeeze out another 1 or 2 from JUST the tb. -again, EXAMPLE.
i have a 58mm on my z and it runs like a champ. theres a little more lag than usual (stock) untill the torque curve then it throws your ass back in the seat pretty good..^^^^ is right
though.

I would recomend hp tuners to tweak any car. The reason I did not mention this to him is he does not have this option since he has 96. I am a litle surprised none else caught that.

Oh yea I forgot that Since I have a 96 I can't use hp tuners. I appreciate the help now I was reading around and I saw someone say that I could you a 58mm tb but I thought that 56mm was the maximum for a stock ln2 throttle body. And what would you all recommend I don't want to lose all my lowend power put do want an improvement and the thing that this car is used for is my dd your comments are always appreciated.
Why cant hptuners be used on a 96? I know 95 has obd1.
You should always tune when changing out throttle bodies.
Not because you make that much more power, but because your CFM changes at the same throttle position.
The tables will not be used to the extra air at the same TPS.
Always tune with a TB.
See that makes sense both do I would love to tune my car the thing is how would I do it effectively without an outrageous amount of cost if I cant use hp tuners?
