Another header install question!
Saturday, September 29, 2007 3:03 PM
I just put my header on my 2.4 and had a question on the bolts to the down pipe. they have springs im pretty sure i know how they go but does the nut face the front of the car or the rear? or does it matter?

My guess would be the rear. If it will fit either way, just do whatever is easier for you.

It doesn't matter, but having the head of the bolt facing the car makes it way easier to install because you can let go of it without the bolt falling out when your trying to put the nut on.

Now where should the spring go? front, rear or in between the flanges?

Either front or rear. Putting it between the flanges in most cases will cause an exhaust leak if the compressed length is too long or if the uncompressed length is too short.

Sorry, I should have said "if the uncompressed length is too short, then it won't do anything"
