installing ecotec tensioner from the rear

The tensior bolt/housing will not come out of my head. I know I could remove it if I smacked it with an impact, however I need to get it to my shop to do that. my question is, can I just plop the guts in from the back set the guide and activate it? I really need help on this one guys.

the timing chain tensioner, can it be installed by putting it in the head manually without removing the giant bolt?

Thats his question to which my response is

"yes, they did it before on my head (the head he now has) when they re-did my cam timing on the first set of cams I had"

You shouldn't need an impact gun to break that bolt loose. It gets torqued down to 55ft-lb IIRC, so it really shouldn't be that tight.
