Im building my 2.4L and im not sure where the marks go on the camshafts and crank.. in my book it says to put the two camshaft marks at 12o'clock, but is that with relation to the cam towers or just strictly 12o'clock

There's only one way the cam gear will go on the cam shaft. Put the timing mark on your crank to 12:00, there should be a corresponding mark on the main bearing cap. On the timing cover case, behind the cam gears, there are two holes about the size of an M8 bolt. On the cam gears there are two holes which, when timed properly, will be at about 6:00 or so. When you can put a bolt through the hole in the cam gear and have it go into the hole in the timing cover so that the cams can't move, then you're timed.

^^^^ what he said just make sure the two out side cyl are up top closest to the head and the two middle pistons are down. you can line the crank up and still have the engine 360* off.

Hey Paul...if it were 360 off, then it would actually be on. I think you meant to say 180...
