Does anyone have the pic of the areas that have to be removed from the valve cover to fit 1.6 rocker? I just need a guide to start modifing my vavle cover.

Thanks in advance

It's normally just 98+. Pre-98 has the guide plates to do.

I had the link (through Howell Automotive) for the valve cover mod for the '98+, but the link is no good anymore.

You can place the valve cover on the motor without the gasket and just start a couple of the valve cover bolts (don't tighten them, you are only keeping the valve cover inline). Rock / slide the valve cover around and see if you can feel any interference. If you do feel any interference, rub that area hard enough to mark the underside of the valve cover. Remeber, it's made of a soft cast aluminum coRemember so it should mar fairly easily. Rotate the motor a 1/4 turn and repete. Do this till you've made two full revrepeatns. Remove the valve cover and look for the marks on the underside and grind as apporpriate. Tip, look at the corresappropriatets under the valve cover, so you can get an idea of what is interfering, so you can grind the valve cover as needed, without going too far.

Nate, your profile and Car Domain link don't show the rocker arm conversion, you wouldn't need to modify you valve cover or guide plates.

Josh, I had to clearance my valve cover at the breather and PCV baffles. The exhaust rockers were pressing against them at lift. This might have been the cause of a few pushrod failures.

Those guide plates are for the '98+ motors, which don't come with them, because they use the self-aligning tipped rocker arms. Those are a take off of what Hotrod V6 was doing with his 2200. $388 for 4 guide plates are they nuckin' futs? And stainless steel isn't needed, they are bathed in oil whenever the motor is running, so corrosion isn't an issue.

OHV notec was referring to the pre-'98s which have guide plates, but need to be clearance for the pushrod to sit closer to the fulcrum point of the 1.6:1 ratio rocker arms.
