noob cam question

1) Do you have to do a port and polish to replace cams (dual)?
2) Do you have to do valve work to replace cams?
3) If you replaced the cams (dual), what all would i need to buy?
4) Are cams pretty much bolt -on?

5) last question i swear, i want to boost my car, what all do i need to do to lower the compression? Will putting low compressions pistons do everything?

Thanks guys.... j-body members are my heros!!!

1. You don't HAVE to, but it will help get the best gains.
2. No, see #1
3. Cams at the least, lifters if you need them, and a gasket kit.
4. No, you have to take quite a bit apart to replace the cams.
5. Yes, that will lower your compression. You will also want to replace the rods, and while you are down there, bore it out a little to clean up the walls, put some quality bearings on, and do the 2.3 oil pump swap.
