New motor mounts are in!

Well I got the Prothane upper and lower mounts from A plus, got them put in and i love them! I can tell there is a difference, I had to learn how to drive my car all over again, it really changed how quickly I let the clutch out. Too slow from a stop and it feels like the car is gonna rattle apart. Once I am moving and start shifting harder and faster the shifts feel firmer and it pulls a little harder after letting the clutch back out. Over all the vibrations aren't bad at all. It feels like it starts a lot easier too.

The one thing I don't understand is that it has changed the way my car sounds, it sounds a lot deeper and before when I was really in it and pushed the clutch in to go from 1 to 2 it would crackle a couple times, and now nothing. I don't understand why it would change the tone??
Any one tell me why?

One thing I would suggest is get the Transmission mounts, best 50 bucks I've ever invested. They took care of a good bit of the vibes I got when I put in my lower engine mount. Havent put in the upper yet, but soon enough =)

I may have to look into that...

Anybody else have these and have the tone of the exhaust change? Nobody knows why?

The vibes are much worse on an auto from what I have heard, mine arent too bad though. It only bothers me if I need to have the a/c when its hot as hell out, but if Im at a stop Ill just hold it up around 1000rpm's so its not a problem.Ill still prolly be switching to a ttr upper mount, they are sexy as hell

The upper insert and lower from cc are a great mod for the money. I got a new one from a member here and got an insert off ebay, so all together I only paid like $40.

^^ For the money the insert is a good deal, but for max performance and such the TTR mount IMO does very well.

Agreed! I had the inserts, but switched to the TTR upper. It reduced the vibes a little (but still there, I have an Auto) and there is nearly no movement from the engine. Eventually I'll be getting the new lower TTR mount and If he does it, the 3 speed auto mount (4 speed auto mounts are just about done, see the thread in the Transmission Forum).

The only time mine really vibs is with the ac one when I am letting the clutch out from a stop but after that you can't even tell theres a difference, unless I shift really bad. Nobody else has had the exhaust note change or what?

I am going to swap the mounts to my cav, from my sunfire. But when i put them on the 'fire there was no exhaust change.

Maybe you have a small leak now?

I dont think it is the exhuast you are hearing, I am almost sure it is the vibrations through the car frame.

None of the mounts take much time on the engine side, the tranny ones take 30-60 minutes each depending on your mechanical knowledge.

Second gear used to be bouncy if i didnt ease off the clutch now its nice and firm! This is one of the best mods for under 50 bucks...makes a huge difference and the vibes arnt that bad either....feel it more with AC on...great mod and a MUST have for any J body. Did i mention how easy it was to install? took like 15mins.....CAKE!!! if you havnt done this mod yet do it ASAP!!
