ok so i found a wrecked soltice and was wondering if you could use the motor mounts, tranny, rear end and drive shaft to con vert a 2003 cav to rwd? i can get it all whole car for 2,200 insurance buy back
lots and lots of money but yes
honestly mostly everyone will tell you its not worth the money

The one, the only, ME.
How bad wrecked is the solstice? Hell i would just say fix it up....

for all the money, time, and energy to put into something like this. you are better off buying a rwd car. or fixing the solstice

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Man, I've seen lots of wild & crazy builds done over the years, but geez... a Soltice powertrain under a Cav? Unless you plan to cut the entire floorpan, firewall, trunk floor & suspension out of the cavy, then slip the Soltice's in, weld it up, and finish it so it looks right, ya might as well just straighten the Soltice out. GM tried something like what you're thinking in the late '80s at Buick wtih the FWD-platform Regal & Reatta two-seater personal sports coupe ( Also FWD ). They did both turbo & supercharged 3.8L V-6 engines & modified Corvette rears. Ever wonder why you never heard of the General ever producing such models? 'Cause they cost to much to for them to build even in working prototype form. Corporations only do things that cost the least profits to even invest in and/or get the the quickest, largest profits made. The cars I mentioned would have such a limited marketability the GM would have gone in the hole if they built them. Not to mention how the EPA would be on thier back over emissions & CAFE standards. So get the Soltice and just straighten it out. And remember: Most of the most serious performance model cars of the world are RWD for a reason. Because they launch and handle better putting the power to the rear wheels.

Fiero's aren't true RWD; they're transverse-mounted mid engine. All driveline parts are standard issue GM FWD stuff. Solstices (Solstii?)/Skies are longitudinally mounted front engine-rear drive.
As for transplanting the driveline....just fix the Solstice, you'll come out with a less expensive, better handling car.

I saw a hot-rod type tv show on tv a couple years ago and they featured a guy who converted a Ford Focus to RWD using various parts (mostly Mustang). I don't remember exact figures, but I think he said he spent around 15-20 grand on the whole setup. Doing it with Solstice parts might cost something similar, if not more.
And BTW, he said the first time he really got into it, he almost pissed his pants.
That's cuz it had a 5.0L V-8 engine that was awkwardly mounted a little to far forward relative to the front axle, upseting the balance. Plus, a moderate compression 302 ( 5.0L ) in that car gives it a power-weight ratio like the 427SC Shelby Cobras had. Those things were giant killers that fed on Ferarris back in the day. You really wanna have fun? I mean build an unsuspecting RWD modern giant killer? Search around about the HOT ROD Magazine/ GM Performance Parts LS7-powered Solstice. If you can find a Solstice for cheap to use as the platform, I bet you can find the other parts needed for cheap & get what needs to be fabricated for cheap too, with about the same final cost as doing the V-8/Focus deal or what you're thinking of doing with that J-car. Also look for an aftermarket builder who put together a limited run of 6.0L LS1-powered Solstices. They should be a big help too. And oh, one last thing. Mid-engine, rear-engine or traditional, longitudial of transverse mounted, if it puts the power to the rear wheels only it still considered RWD.

Oh, also about that Focus... too much power on to short of wheelbase with a solid axle makes for a squirrelly little car. I seen it happen alot w/ 401-powered Gremlins at the strip. 'Course, fact that he had the thing sitting so tall on a jacked suspension to fit too wide of tire within the factory wheelwell while it's mounted on a rim with a offset that makes the rear tracking width considerably bigger than the front didn't help him either.

if someone feels like donating an LS1 drivetrain + a cavy shell I feel like making magic happen

it can be done. people have put bigger rwd setups than that into all generations of cavalier... but if you have to ask if its possible, we already know that you don't currently possess the skills to do it yourself, in which case i hope you plan on taking many years to learn about fabrication before/as you work on the car, or spend a down payment for a house on paying other people to do the work.

Hold on, now. You gonna tub it too? M' hat's off to you, son. It is so nice to hear of someone young in this day & age willin' to even consider doin' a classic, big-on-style Pro-street machine. And with function to boot! I don't know if yer anti-rat rod, but if you are, ain't nothing more anti-rat rod than that! 'Cept maybe a custom van... That's what these fellers with the cars done-up with A/V & lights like the inside of a dance club oughta do 'steada ruining a good street car. Especially if it's a performance model like this one kid did with a '89 Firebird Formula 350. It was a damn shame and a waste of good machinery. Anyways, I'm with you son. Make some classic heavy-metal noise. Viva Pro-street!

I was wondering the same question about my 05 sunfire but I think I just got my answer to it. I will eventually have it paid off and just getting a daily driving car that I don't have to worry about and tune up the 2.2 ECO. I was also wondering if it is possible to bore out the 2.2 to a 2.4 and if it is even worth the money to get the pistons, sleeves, etc.
Is it a GXP turbocharged? This is what I'de to if I had the money and time.
Find your self a smaller frame (maybe a chopped one from an old VW Carmangia or something). Make a rolling chassis with the engine and tranny out of the Solstice using any rear axle and drive shaft that will work. Then fabricate yourself a 1940's looking roofless, open wheeled, open engine rat rod, but smaller. I've seen it done with Escort engines, and there cooler than hell. Just think of how snappy the thing would be weighing so light. You could take it to car shows, and draw all kinds of attention.
