Im searching for a performance intake manifold for my 98' cavy with the 2200 engine... Im seing that venom makes one for the 97' 2.2's but the 2.2's and the 2200 series engines are diffrent right? I found one for a 98' model but its only for the 2.4. Im tryin to build up this 2200 to show people that u dont need DOHC. lol. Let me know what i could do...
Well steve nobody makes a perfomance intake that is worth while on the ohv. Your better off spending money on head work, tq converter since ur auto, You also have listed that you want to swap an eco in the future so why save for that, or go and boost ur ohv.
What are your goals for this car?
I want to get the most out of the 2200 engine.I don't have the time or money to do the eco,but I would like head work and cam work and what ever else to get this beast movin faster...
for an intake manifold for the ohv, you're better off just port matching the stock plasting one. the after market manifolds that i've found are right around $800 and i just can't see spending that amount of money for a manifold, unless it held a supercharger, but thats not the case, lol. good luck with your build.

Normally I'm all about doing something different, but if you want to get the most out of the 2200 engine but don't have the time or money to swap to an Ecotec...I'm thinking you won't have the time or money to get the most out of the 2200 either. I don't have the 2200 but my ex wife did and so I researched it a ton...you could probably get 170 whp or so without going with boost but it's gonna require a sh!tload of work, most of which won't be easy or cheap. Or, you could go with boost and without touching the bottom end probably make in the low 200s at the wheels, but again, cheap it won't be, at least not if you want to do it right.
Not trying to knock you down, but if you want to show what the 2200 can do, don't expect it to be accomplished with the simple bolt ons. Cam, headwork, roller rockers, probably end up getting into custom pushrods, higher compression for the most power...along with the usual stuff like intake and full exhaust. And don't forget tuning either (HP Tuners would be your best bet, again not really cheap).
