I have a 2003 2.2 Ecotec Cavalier... it has about 44,xxx. Today when I was driving home I was about 2 miles from my house and boom it just starts knocking really bad so I get home well I have no oil in my car because my oil plug isn't there odd very and I don't know how to happened and I was unaware of it... so I bought a new plug filled it with fresh oil and changed the filter. I let it warm up for 15 mins before driving to pick up my sister from work and its still knocking through 1st gear.. 2nd is ok and then 3rd knocks bad as well... its weird though because after 3000RPM I really don't have any power anymore... could this be my rods? Or does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be the car is now parked because I won't drive it like that.
time for a new motor
did you change you/or have the oil recently ? i bet you left a rather large oil slick some where , id track back to before you got home , and look and see if the drain plug is sitting where you were last parked
AND DONT YOU WATCH YOUR GAUGE CLUSTER ? it has a oil light that comes on , it shoulda came on long before you did any motor damage
my oil light never came on thats why i didnt know anything was ever wrong until i started hearing all the loud ticking... and no i was due for an oil change in like a week i left my car sitting at friends over night needless to say i think i have a few ideas who jacked my plug because its not just going to pop out .... getting a new engine today i had my friend come take a look at it my lifter came unseeded and is hitting my piston so yeah
Do you have any enemies???

lol... I tend to be a bitch to other females so I have many enemies. I guess I can look at the positive I'm getting a brand new engine from Chevy with a warranty

I hope they don't give you a hard time. Warranty or not, dealers act like queers sometimes when something goes wrong.
I love my dealers nicest people to deal with plus i have many friends that work there so I should be good
Its not the dealer you need to worry about its when the engine is sent back to GM for review that you need to worry about it. They will not hesitate to make you pay for the engine if they find that it was lack of oil that caused the malfuntion and Im sorry to say they arent stupid. Its warranty fraud and we see it ALL the time at our dealer. Perhaps you'll get lucky and it will slip though the cracks but remember you are posting your issues on a public forum that not only can be seen by anyone but is also represented by the very people your engine will soon be inspected by. You never know whos reading this, good luck

exactly. the dealer will get the car in to the shop, diag it, in the case that they diag it they will find the problem (which you stated was that the lifter had unseated) then they will do the okay time for a new motor thing. and then a warranty adjuster from gm will come out to inspect it. if they find that that happened do to a lack of oil then your f'd but hopefully like california said, you can slip through the cracks on it
