i found a quad ohc from a grand am and was wondering if it would swap into my friends 97 2.4 and how much work it would be.
we can get the whole car that has wiring and all. im just wondering cause his 2.4 is blown... were waiting right now to make a decision.... so please get back to me soon. thanks you all..

As far as the Quad/Twin Cam engines - only the OHC version is basically crap.
The DOHC Quad 4's are basically great. As is the 2.4 Twin Cam version.
I've had two cars with 2.4 Twin Cams - both were/are great engines. Purr like cats, and pull strong all the way to their redline.
even if the OHC is working now..it wont be for long..thats a guarantee !
does anyone research before they go swaping engines anymore?? if your gonna replace your 2.4 another 2.4 or 2.3 would be preferable and easies to put in.
the quad ohc just bolts right in but its totally crap.
Find a low milage L.O. and swap the intake cam tower&power steering pump from the 2.4 and use the timing set from the 2.4, some new gaskets.
There Isn't even anything usefull in the ohc.. exept for the scrap aluminum, and cutting the insolation off from the wiring harness for the copper.

so no go on the quad ohc. it looked like the exhaust headers were that from the dohc quad. ill get some pics....
