Comp Cams. $830 4-6 weeks
We got the pricing from them today. It turns out the 2.2 cam shares the same gear as a sbc cam. That helps alot on price since they have gears on the shelf that they can press on to a billet core. Apparently Comp just got a new cnc setup up and running so they can do custom stuff fairly fast and "cheap". I say "Cheap" as Crane quoted us 1400 or so a couple months ago.
I asked my builder to see if there would be any sort of a price break on multiple cams... say 5.
Not sure if anyone is even intersted, just thought Id toss it out there. I doubt the price would come down much. Maybee 100 bux or so?
I would need to send them a newer cam as well so they would know where the cam position ring is etc (my 94 doesnt have it).
Anyway, just thought I would share.

Ouch, I could never pay that much for a cam. Can't wait to see how it turns out though, you know your specs yet? We need your car back in running condition...

Yep, Im sure they do too. Just need to figure that out and in a month or so I should hve a nice setup.

Looking at my old dyno sheets my tq was 250ftlbs at 3700 and 267 at around 4100. Im going to a slightly larger turbo so I would expect this to move up some so your 4500 is probably close. HP peak 6500-7k sounds right.
I can run up to 0.600" of total lift. My head flow starts to crap out above 0.550" however.
Im currently running 1.6:1 rockers.
I believe we were discussing a single pattern cam with somewhere between 220-230 duration, probably stock separation 114, and whatever lift gets me to that 0.550" ish area.
It sounds like this cam will be available later if anyone is interested but only thru my shop, not direct from Comp.

Wow... and people have bitched and complained about $800 for a PAIR of cams for the LD9...
Good on ya for finding an alternative bro...
I have to say the prices for cams for us make me look longingly at a V8 and their exceedingly less expensive cams... why oh why did I mod a 4 cyl... haha...

You and me both!
I sure hope a $1400 valve train (lifters and cam lol) holds up.

Jack,
I'm using stock cam grind and stock valve springs with 1.6:1 comp cam roller tip rockers.
the most I've pushed my car to is about 65-6600rpm. I am not sure how far I can go with my stock springs.
I would expect my peak tq number would peak lower then Dan's, as I am running a .48 a/r hot side.
I haven't been able to do a full pull on the dyno yet so I don't know where I stand with numbers.
that's hopefully coming this summer.

The hp/tq numbers I got were with a 46 trim compressor and a 0.48 hot side.
Im going to be switching up to the 50 trim and 0.63. Im hoping its a nice compromise with a slightly slower spoo but with a better ability to not crap out at high rpm/hp. The 46 trim/ 0.48 just comes on too hard and fast. It makes it very unmanageable in my opinion.
The 2.2 and 2.5L turbo dodge guys have been using hte 50 trim/0.63 with great success up to 30psi (400+whp?). Their motors are similar in size and flow to ours.

I have a .48 a/r hotside, and a 57 trim compressor pushing 12lbs. I get a full spool by around 3800 - 4000.
When I upgrade to an external w/g, I may convert to a .63 a/r and open up the DP to a 3"
edit: I really have to get to the dyno
I had a leak at 4400rpm, and at that point I was already making 207whp and 215ft/lbs wtq

Update:
Comp jerked us around a little on the deal. They came back and said the $830 was for them to make 5 pieces, at 830 each. ya, great.
Luckily my builder had created lots of cam blanks for delphi research projects so he was able to turn a core for my new cam in house. Then we will send it to comp to be rough ground, copper plated, heat treated, and final ground at a cost of about $500. It looks like I will be at about the same price of $800.
I talked to my builder this am. The core blank is ready to go, just needs one dowl pin installed. It should ship to comp monday. Hopefully Ill have it back in 3-4 weeks. Then they still have to fit the new lifters etc.
If I didnt mention it before we got a set of Crower keyed race lifters for the new build. I think the set of 8, with the "groove tool" was about $500, ugh.
Im just hoping to hell they dont need to sleeve the lifter bores too. Thats probably another $35 a hole for bronze bushings.
Anyway, Ill post up some pics of this when it starts coming back together.

Dan, let me know how all these things go, I'd be interested in buying a duplicate setup. Thankfully, with how I've been working lately, the price isn't the problem, its just that the stuff will sit in my garage for a year before i could do anything with it at this rate.
