I have a spare 2200 head in my garage and Im contemplating on whether or not to remove that vein in the intake ports. I know its there to help direct incoming air aroung the valve guide boss but I dont see how it can help. Air does not only travel at the roof of the port so this vein would cause turbuluence in the chamber. Whats everyones thoughts on the intake port vein
It increases air velocity as well. The 2.2L actually has them in the exhaust ports...by the outlet...go figure
Knife-edging it before the guide might help, but letting it expand to direct air around the guide would still be a good idea. The guide is larger than the valve stem, hence the extra effort to re-direct the air.
