ok, over the summer, i basically used all of my money on my cars sound system, and i'm pleased, although i'd like to get a lil bit of dynamat in the car...
now, its time to work on performance.......the fun stuff...
i'm not really good with cars, hell, i'm 17, and know very little....but have a urge to start learning alot more.....i mean i started with knowing nothing about cars except gas pedal = vroom vroom.....to installing my entire sound system myself, and a lil of performance stuff here and there....

Delco for stock or bolt on.

ill tell you honestly, plugs and wires will do NOTHING for you unless your old ones are shot. even then, replace with oem. the +4's are horrible, use stock plugs on our cars, they seem to run the best. get on him about the intake seriously. go to his house, sit down at his computer, close his porn, and find an intake on ebay. a cai and a short ram on our engines will net about the same gain, without supporting mods. you may want to try to get a muffler shop to weld you up a 2.25 inch catback exhaust. also, a high flow cat, the magnaflow 94035, available through the
turbo tech gp is perfect for our cars. if you still have enough $$$ for the painted header left, get it. it wont last as long as the ceramic one, but it will last long enough for you to get a job, get more monies, and then mod more. now, DO NOT BUY THE EBAY +20 HP SPEED CHIP. it does NOTHING. you pay $16+ for a resistor to put on your iat. this richens up the car, reduces your mileage, and in some cases, makes your car run worse the longer its on. our cars after 1995 are NOT chippable, 1997-2005 models have hptuners available, but at a cost of around $600. if you have any other questions, feel free to ask, and we'll answer as best we can.

ok, maybe i'll try to sell the plugs to my friend...
then, maybe i'll just check my plugs against my haynes manuel n see if i need new ones or not.....cuz i figured a better spark = more HP (even if it was a little bit).....but if u guys say otherwise....i'll listen to you....
and as for my friend, hes perty much a dush bag....honestly, i dont thinnk he even ordered them....i think i'll just save the money i was gonna use for the wires, and get a cai(i found one before that was 20$ inc shipping but some guy got it b4 i had a chance)
and as for the exhaust, whats the difference of painted, and ceramic headers....
and does anyone know if theres a cat back exhaust thats fairly cheap, and doesnt include a muffler(considering i just baught a fairly nice one)
and yea, i'm not really lookin to chip my car, cuz ik about the resinator stuff.....but chipping will be for when i get a better car...
but yea....if u guys could keep ur heads up for cheap prices on ebay, or other sites....and if anyone knows if i could get a driverside rear door panel......i had a little accident with mine.....if u wanna know more....ask me...lol...
yea, just keep a heads up for cai or ram intakes on ebay....pref anything under 40 or 50$, cuz thats the goin price for the buy it now ones on ebay
thanks again guys!!!

painted: the paint is only for shipping purposes and will burn off in about a month (depends on how much you drive) and you're left with a raw steel header, exposed to the elements, and it begins to rust. the ceramic coating does not wear off, it maintains the protection on teh header, and it does not rust. personally, for the price of the gp right now, if i had the money,id go for the ceramic. but i like the painted better. just my preference. the ceramic also keeps under-hood temps down, for what its worth.
cat backs: you most likely wont find one with out a muffler. which if you get one custom bent at an exhaust shop, you can use your own cat and muffler anyway. something i forgot to say last time, dont gut/cut off your cat with out replacing it. this is a FEDERAL offence. getting a cat back system bent at a muffler shop will usually be less expensive than buying a pieced together kit.
intakes: an intake is an intake is an intake. it's a tube on the end with a filter. just find the cheapest one on ebay you can, and then buy a better k&n STYLE filter.
check out turbo tech or car customs for polyurethane engine mounts. they help quite a bit, and are very easy to install.
also, fill out your profile so we know which car you have, what engine, where you're at, etc.

ok, i filled out my profile a bit more...
and yea, i think i'll just grab a cheap intake off of ebay, and if my friend gets it for me, i'll sell that one...
thanks for the ceramic vs painted, that deff helps to know....
i'll ask around for the custom bent exhaust.....i'm not in really a great area for the performance thing, and if i am, i dont know where to look....theres basically just normal car places around, advance auto parts, tires plus vavoline, midas.....all those...
as for the engine mounts.....i lookes at car customs and found these
http://www.carcustoms.net/product_info.php?cPath=265_22_32_596&products_id=100
i couldnt find turbo tech, i googled it, and found several companies for car performance....
but the one i found goes for 65$.....is that a good cheap price, do you think i'd beable to find ones on ebay that are just as good or better for cheaper or maybe a little bit more??.....
thanks again guys!!! much appreicate the help......my friend(diff one) talks @!#$ about me behind my back sayhing all i ever do is look what @!#$ is up online....and never get experience........but then again he shouldnt talk.....hes got a few problems ......
thanks!!!!

yea, i got a phone book....i was just wondering if anyone know maybe a perty well known place....or a place that does good work...

and if you cant find any in the phonebook, go to your regionals, heres the link (your from wisconsin right?)
http://www.j-body.org/regions/north_central/ , and ask around here for good muffler shops.
Under Construction, should be finished before years over...

Dude...I had a Tuffy do my exhaust...! I bought the Magnaflo cat'...decided on steel at a dia. of 2.5 back into Number One cannisters.... They crawled under the car with me...we talked about how I wanted it routed...and the guy bent it right there for me and welded the whole thing up for under $200.
My car sounds BAD...LOL. ...I mean bad in a good way.... people hear me coming think it's a V-8.
Any good reputable "franchise" muffler shop can do the same thing for you. You'll probably want to save money so use aluminum...it still sounds good...just be careful choosing your cans...I've been VERY happy with my Number Ones...which I bought off EBay.
good luck!
If i wanted a civic i'd have had japanese parents! now figure out how to make this fit!!
hows this for the cat??
my muffler is a 2.25" inlet, so i thought this one would be a good one......anyone got any comments on it??
and what did you mean by "Number One"...is that just a muffler or what....not quite sure....
and did you do a catback, or headers back??
thanks, i'll look into Tuffy, theres one right by my dads house!
thanks again!!!
~Shiba~
sorry for the confusion....Number One is a manufacturer of "cannisters..." just another word for mufflers built for tuners.
since i had the Magnaflo High-flow catalytic converter installed, it's from the exhaust manifold back...2.5 all the way into the cannisters.
depending on how low your car is ( mine's 1.75 " at the tranny pan ) you can have your cans mounted in the stock position or at the rear of the car...which is where mine went...depends on the size muffler you choose.
Again, any good shop can help you with that once you've chosen your mufflers.

the best place to start is the performance FAQ in this forum
another great way to start is by checking out some magazines
sport compact car used to be the best, IDK anymore tho after dave coleman stopped writing 'technobabble'
but they have a lot of informative articles in there.. its THE BEST sport compact mag out if you want to learn about performance
super street, import racer, and all those other magazines are pretty much posers compared to SCC.
also, if you're looking to learn about turbocharging Turbo! magazine is a good one too.
Turbo! and SCC are the gods amongst insects of car magazines
but just a heads up:
bolt-ons and the like are going to make your car faster, but the OHV doesn't do very well with bolt ons alone, and attached to an automatic transmission your car is still going to be painfully slow without some major modifications.
