Turbo Tech Racing is gauging interest on a 1995-05 J-Body lower engine mounts. We are considering creating them from aircraft-grade aluminum. They would be powered coat painted to your choice, also having the option of Red, Black, or Blue bushings.
The price would be similar to the other brands, somewhere in the range of $40-60.
Comments or suggestions are welcome…

id be all for it man! ive acctually been looking forward to your lower engine mount.
although... would the aluminum be strong enough to hold the stress?
if yes... hell yes... less weight rules.

Theoretically, comparison of steel with a 75,000 PSI yield strength, to 6061 T6 air-craft grade aluminum with a 40,000 PSI yield strength; being the steel is a “tube” and that our aluminum mount would be 100% solid, it would actually be stronger, yet less weight (not that it is that big of a factor/difference)

very nice info... seems you have certainly done your homework, as always.
but...whats awesome is not only is it less weight, its less un-sprung weight, and the less here is the best!
i have the rk sport lower now, and its lasted for about 4 years, and i have really liked it, would the TTR be better in terms of less movement, or would it just be better cuz of the aluminum (strength)?
i would more than likly buy it mate.
I THINK I bought my RKSport lower mount from you. I'll trade it back if I can test your new one.
Not to be a pessimist but the weight you'd save in that dogbone would be hardly worth it. Some J owners could get better weight reduction by going on a diet
What I wonder is will it dampen engine vibration any better than the aftermarket steel hollow dogbone mount many of us have already. Different grade of polyurethane by any chance, or same as the rksport mounts? Just trying to justify if its worth the upgrade, like the ttr upper mount is over only an insert.
imo if you can find a similar poly material to what mark pain did years ago where the vibes were decreased but the amount of engine movement was almost the same, i think you'd get a lot of interest.

We can offer different durameters (hardness) if someone can get the hardness of the MP we can offer that, It should be about a 60 Shore A, to a 80 Shore A I would guess....
This would also be a solid one piece designed, machined on our CNC 4 Axis Mill. No welds, nothing, just one solid piece of stock.... Only steel in the part is the "sleeves" for the bolts to go into.
This is still 100% up in the air, we are open to any ideas, as we will deliver to you, the customers, and what YOU want.

Matt- I would go with the comp cams stage one, dont buy valve train you dont need it until you hit at least stage two. Plus stage one runs fine on the stock ECU. Any other questions please email me... Keep this topic focused

im down...... just to get one to match my upper mount..... Is it possible you could make to versions where one is soft for the people that dont like vibs and a hard one for the ones that dont care about the vibs and want the least amount of engine movement possible?

I think, we could offer a "street" and "race" design, being "street" is softer and "race" is harder.

so a aluminum I or H beam with the metal sleves for the bushings in the ends
dont think it would be a bad idea
ive got a MP bushing lower mount
I'm with the others.
The idea of street or race hardness is good.
My question would be about the bushing size,
Of the dogbones I've had there were 3 types of bushing setups:
RK/RSM 2 small bushings
MP 1 larger bushing for the front, 1 smaller in the back
Prothane dogbone 2 large bushings.
Basically in that order also is most vibes to least, and ease of installation to hardest.
Big azz Prothane bushing for the back was hella hard to get in there.
So I guess maybe custom bushing sizes or something.

im all over this idea as well... if you did this, you would dominate the mount market for the j
im pretty sure that with a choice of stiff or soft, more ppl would rather go with your mount.
also.. seeing as how this alum. mount would be one peice-solid (as you said aaron), would it in turn make the movement even less? as the rk mount is a hollow piece...right?
im saying go for it man, you've had some really good luck here with our community, and if you would release another quailty mount such as this one... you would own.

That is not interlay true. Just because it is a solid bar DOEN'T mean that is will be stronger than a tube steel design. If I remember correctly a tube rod resists deflection better than a solid rod. I'll have to look in my strength of material book to confirm that. Yes T6-6061 is a great aluminum, but there are to many variables to just assume that the solid rod of aluminum will be stronger than the tube rod. of steel. Will it hold up.... probably yes. I see no problem with the strength of it. Personally I would rather see a steel dog bone with an aluminum bushing, but that’s me, and if I want one I just make one. I'm glad you are looking into new products. At least someone is. I commend you in your efforts.
