Alright, i just did a search for this topic. I read that there is some welding that is necessary to put in a header. For starters I don't know which setup to choose from, be it 4-1 or 4-2-1. So which one to choose if I plan to stay N/A? Also, I read that there is a direct bolton header for the 2.4, is that true? If so, is it still a requirement to do some welding if I want to keep my Magnaflow Cat converter? Is there anything else I should know before getting a header? Thanks for your time!!
Yeah, it should be welded to the cat.
Thanks!! That answers that Q. I searched some of the sites for a header and prices and obviously noticed the difference between the 4-2-1 and the 4-1 header. What is to be the expected difference between the two? And is there a significant power gain difference between the stainless steel, armor coated, and ceramic coated header? Might sound silly, but just had to ask. Thanks once again!!!
Most people say 4-1 gives more top end and 4-2-1 gives broader increase over the whole power band. Stainless, could be alright but might rust (notice i say MIGHT). Armor coated, better protection. Ceramic coated, best protection ( in my opinion), plus they say it helps keep the heat IN, which in turn supposedly helps with exhaust velocity.
I'd say 4-2-1 unless u drive around in high revs all the time which I don't. Ceramic coated for sure all the other finishes come off with time except armor coated.
Ok, Thanx. Thats a big help. I also read that DC Sports has the better 4-2-1 header. So I guess I'll go with that one by next month. Thanks once again
There are pros and cons to each header.
And I don't wanna throw a curveball into your decesion.
But i'd also go for the DC sports header as well givrn the choice.

He is correct.
Not only will the hot gases stay in better in a ceramic coated system, but with that, your cat will work better too. The car will run cleaner and more efficient.
I just got RKS' 4-2-1 for the 2.4L. I will try to install it this weekend. If i do, I'll let you know how it works.

They're still making that header?
Cool.
Let us know,

in all honesty, unless your looking for every drop of power, just get any header. the tube sizes arnt really big enough for the 2.4L anyways unless your running an engine with just some bolt ons..

I installed the RKS header on the car Sat, but I have a exhaust leak where the pipe meets the cat, right now i have a open header sound. The only thing i can tell you now is, it sounds nice lol.
Wed I will get a whole new exhaust and later do thread on it with details.

i think i remember reading that the 4-2-1 is larger in size than the 4-1 so you have to move the engine forward to get it in. if not it is a very tight squeeze. thats why people go with the 4-1instead. how true is this?

not for the dc sports 4-2-1
so if i was planning on putting this stuff on, you would recomend doing the 4-2-1 myself ? cuz i really want it, but was planning on settling for the 4-1 because of that.

Have a buddy help you out is my best recommendation. At times you will need a extra set of hands.
No problem.

Stan's/Bill's Isuzu went in no problems at all.
For 95-99 j-bodies, DC sports has the best design and flow. As everyone said, you need to pick which will work for how you drive. I got a Pacesetter 4-1 Ceramic Coated header on my 2001 cavy. Its great once you pass the 3,000rpm mark, doesn't make a difference till that point. Then again, I am running an LD9 GM Charger. Make sure to get a ceramic coated or armour coated to keep the heat from escaping into the engine bay, especailly if your only running a short ram intake.
