Is a stock head worth it to mod?
Thursday, October 19, 2006 7:02 PM
I got a head for my L61 from a friend that works at a Chevrolet dealership. It came off a car that hydro-locked, but the head is still in good condition.

My question is though, would it be worth it to use this head and modify it or should i go and buy one that is already modified. What i planned on doing was to take it to a machine shop and first see if it is straight and then porting it out a little. Also i want to put a cam in, nothing to agressive just a little something to help if i go ahead and put a supercharger on. And i would also consider putting new valves and springs in, if its necessary.

Finally, how should i store it before i start working on it. Right now its sitting in my garage but since winter is coming i thought about bringing it indoors and either putting it downstairs or in my room. Thanks in advance.
