086 Part #?
Wednesday, October 18, 2006 11:37 AM
What is the part # for the 086 head of the 2.3 ho? And where can I find it besides junk yards? I had a buddy of mine at Autozone see if he can order it and he looked up in the computers that they can get 2 diffirent 086 Heads of the 2.3l. But want almost $500 for both.

In the planning stage for an all American TRD Cavalier.

I have been looking on Ebay for the 086 head and found only SOHC ones. Maybe i just have bad timming.

Whats the physical difference in these heads?

GM Quad Cylinder Head 2.3 liter SOHC casting 086
GM Quad Cylinder Head 2.3 liter DOHC casting 456
GM Quad Cylinder Head 2.3 liter DOHC casting 753

Everything i have read says its only the 086 head, anyone know where i can find one, besides the junk yard?

Thanks

The 086 head is from the DOHC, not SOHC.

Does anyone have the ebay link where they got their rebuilt 086 head for $250? Cause the olny ones I've seen are $400 & up and require you to send an 086 head back as a core.

Spoke too soon, they still require a core. Anyone think they would care if I returned a LD9 head to them ?

My 086 head came from the same company. I actually emailed they beforehand when I did mine and they said it wouldn't be a problem.

Well I just brought the only new one that Mike Mooney Chevy had and according to the parts guy they only had the one. I already had a used 086 head but it never hurts to have spares especially a brand new one, just in case the used one's been surfaced before to where it can't be used. I also ordered my W41 cams new from GM Parts Direct and I'm on my way to the local junkyard to pickup a core motor from a 2001 to take to the machince shop to start my 2.3/2.4 turbo build. So it begins.
