has anyone tried or heard of anyone doing a 2.4 eco swap into a 04 cavy with a 2.2 eco? i am considering trying it since they can handle way more boost on the stock bottom end and make gobs of power too.
There was talk a while back about putting the 2.4L VVT in a J-body but I don't know what came of it.

i know they put em in the new cobalts and i think the cobalts use the getrag tranny but not sure i wanna try it
i have a turbo on my 2.2 but the stock 2.4 can handle 400hp on stock bottom end. hann is pushin something like 370 at wheels on theirs with just the kit, no internals.
i thought about it too, i want to try it....do a 5sp swap and a 2.4L eco......but the dealership said that relocating the top engine mount would be to hard and it wouldn't be worth doing cause of that..........
how much does a stage I turbo cost for the 2.2L?

its under the solstice not the cobalt
no one has done this swap yet. youd be the first
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
well you would need the engine. wiring harness, clutch and flywheel, the PCM, i dont believe the mounts are any different since its the same block, i dont know how wise it is to boost a motor with as high of compression as this either

either way, it would be massively cheaper to just turbo the standard Eco and put better internals on it to get it in the 350-370hp range...
but I say, if you have your heart set on doing it, you don't need our approval... just do it! I'd love to see it happen...
^^^ Agreed
Wont be cheap, but love to see it happen.
i already have my 2.2 turboed i was just curious if it had been done.. i was thinking about doing a project car. i know it would take tranny and pcm and the wiring harness and stuff.
and the throttle pedal as that one is drive by wire as well....
the way I see it the VVT controller and the crank position sensor are gonna be the trouble points. from what I know a F23 from J's can work and the mounting stuff can be setup if the 2.4 is the same as the 2.0SC which I think it is. about the TB just use the 2.2 eco's and mani if you have to.
Sven you totally quarterloafed your computer..
I would just use the bottom end.
2.4L block with crank rods and pistons. Use 2.2L sensors.
Use 2.2L head.
if i were to do it i would want the vvt

What's that supposed to mean?
VVT=Toyota...u want VVT u should buy a toyota.......thats the way i interpreted it lol
you scratch my ride IMA EAT YO CHILDREN
sunfires said to use only bottom end.. but the reason for doing the swap would be for the increased upper end breathing capabilities which comes from the vvt.. now do you understand
Gm's VVT actually works its through the entire powerband instead of above 7000 lol, silly imports

You have alot to learn if you think the VVT make it a high end killer.

well seeing that the hahn solstice puts about 400hp at crank at 16 psi of boost i would say it breathes a whole lot better then a bored out 2.2 w/o vvt.
i dont know much on the gm vvt but if it anything like hondas or toyotas it makes a huge difference in hp.
