I am swapping a 2.2L ecotec motor into my 98 z24 have run into a problem. I am boosting the ecotec motor so i have bought wiesco pistons and eagle rods to put in the bottom end. I cant seem to find a ecotec gasket set, rod bearings and crank/main bearings. Where do i buy these from becuase I cant find them anywhere? Also I am not sure if i need to do anything ot the timing of the car or if i need to do anything to the cams at all? Let me know thanks
You can only get them from the dealership. The stock rod bearings are amazingly strong. The ones we took out of my motor had almost no wear signs on them. Same with the main bearings.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

clevitte doesnt make any for the eco
hahn made 400whp on oem gm ones. and hell i dont even know when gm changed theirs. im sure it was around 500-600.
just go to your local dealership. tell them u want new rod and main bearings.
as far as gaskets go. its up to you. every gasket i took off the engine, i ordered a new one to replace it. may not HAVE to... but with all the money involved... since its already appart.. why not just do it and never worry about it again?

GMs replaced their crankshaft main bearings and connecting rod bearing in the 600-1000hp section. I'n not sure which bearings you are talking about but for the connecting rod bearings they replace them with CLEVITE part number #1663H or HX, on page 77 of the ecotec build book. The main bearing set that is recomended in the book is from GMPP #21018819. The stock head gasket is 24444091. I haven't read through the book in awhile, but I didn't see how much horse power it can take, but in the back of the book they list suppliers and for head gaskets they have SCE Gaskets . Hope this helps you a little.

GM Race engines use STOCK OEM GM Main Bearings and HONDA Rod Bearings. They have the crank / rods made so they use Honda Rod Bearings.
you can use a stock headgasket, ive never heard of anyone blowing one
