Well im kinda stuck on what to do. I have all my 2 1/4 pipe tacked together and everything waiting to install. But now i dont know if i wanna put my hi flow cat on or not. Think i should? I'm just wondering am i goin to lose any power gains by using the high flow cat? Do i really need it? What would i need to do if i dont need it? get a o2 sim?
import tuner recently dyno'd a car with a high flow and with no cat, and it was a single horsepower gain. Its up to you to decide if thats worth the possible penalties.
Penalties? theres no testing here for the inspection so i'd be fine on that. See the only thing i would do if i did remove that cat is run a flame thrower kit (i know i know flame me if u want) ((no pun intended))
on race cars they cant dont have the cat, but they actually notice gains lol.
It's bad for the environment.
That's why you shouldn't
meaning keep the cat >.>
Sorry for the double post.

Exactly. So keep the cat.
Better yet, ditch the stock one and replace it with Magnaflow high flow cat. Like the lemur said, you'll make a HUGE gain of 1 whole hp with no cat and just a straight pipe in there instead.
Stick with the cat and keep the air
somewhat clean.

it will probably be way loud with no cat thats how it was for my friends sunfire he had a 2.4 with a header and cat-back and just an equal size pipe welded between and it was annoying and sounded stupid. as for me im running a hi-flow cat with my header and cat-back on my 2.4 and it is way mello compaired to his exhaust and sounds so much better, so id recommend just using the cat as for performance wise his car was slower after the full exhaust install with out the cat he was very dissapointed with it and ended up getting rid of it all together selling the car
um did you read my post Spilner521? I swear i said i had a "Hi-flow cat" atleast once in my posts. It wouldn't be much louder cuz i have a 24" glasspack goin on with it. Maybe i should tell you what my exhaust will be. Right now waiting to be finished welded and installed is a Pacesetter header, Magnaflow hi-flow cat, 24" glasspack, 2 1/4 piping, y pipe into dual off brand "SR2" mufflers.
Use the cat.
