Ecotec Valve Springs & Retainers--Where??
Monday, August 21, 2006 11:07 PM
Hey,
Got some Stage 2 Eco cams, and wondering if I should purchase some valve springs with titanium retainers to compensate for the bigger lobe/cam profile etc. I believe this allow me to have higher RPMS not just because of the cams, but because of the retainers etc. I also believe I should get more power out of the cams? If the manufacturer doesn't make the stuff, then where can I find aftermarket performance springs and retainers that will work with slightly aggressive cams?
Thanks
Uraaz

And let me know if I need the damn things first.. Appreciate it.

Bates engineering, you have to call them (714)545-0159... thats what gm uses on the import killer engines

part numbers
Springs ESGV002
Retainers ESGV0150
Seat ESGV0065

handles .500" lift and higher rpm

Springs definately. Retainers, it's your money. More power, some. With tuning, yes.

That's why I love this web site.. Appreciate the info a lot... Thanks

Now when you say tuning, If I re-tune my car with the Apexi S-AFC II, one the cams/springs/retainers installed would that help? Or tuning how?

Any specific type of spring stiffness needed?

safc 2 is pretty much useless on our cars, by tunning he means everything from afr, spark timing, cam timing, just making the most power safely out the engine which a safc can not do

I was hoping someone wouldn't say that( SAFC is useless).. Haven't installed it yet, maybe I should just sell it and add some more cash to get HP tuners??? Or how else do I tune my car with new cams?

okay sorry, i got yelled at for saying useless before about the safc 2..its not exactly useless, but its not going to be able to tune how you think it is.. It can only adjust FUEL +/- 50%, which means your not going to be able to get close to the power you would be able with HP tuners.

So should I buy the HP Tuners software?? I went to their web-site, I was all confused. Which version do us cavy guys buy again?

How much HP would I gain on having it, with many bolt ons and cams.. Would it tune my car sooo much that I would notice a big difference in performance? I know this is hard to define, but can anyone tell me what kind of gains I can see. I heard with the SAFC II, even with cams and many bolt ons, probably 5-8 hp to the crank is all I would see! Anyone second this?

Thanks

YAZ!!,
Long time man!! Been busy working, no time for St. Pete!! I did lose your number, but talk to DAMIR all the time. You know I can't put that in myself!!! TALK TO ME!
I still have the SAFC II in my trunk! lol... When can you put that in for me??
Are you talking about RACE RELATED? I would love my cams to be tuned there.. He's done work for me before.
I'll get with you soon.
Thanks

If he tunes your motor with HP you will not need SAFC, so you might as well sell it cause if you want him to get ahold of the car.
It is NOT Race Related that will tune the car but this GM Tuner (local guy), and we'll probably do it AT Race Related.
Cams I would put in at my house and then we would take it overthere.
Don't try to do it yourself, please. lol
Anyways, get with me.
