hey guys. i have a 2000 cavl ls w/the 2200 and a 4spd auto (slow as @!#$) and i was wondering what exactly i would need to change in order to swap it with a 2001 z24 motor and 5spd manual? what would i need to replace?? ECU, engine mounts, etc. thanx for the help!

Engine, Wire Harness (unless your good with wires), Transmission, Axles, Cables, Shifter, Trans mounts and brackets, ECM....... I'm sure there are a few more parts..... best bet is to get yourself a front clip from a 00-02 Z24 and swap EVERYTHING.

Easy swap would be to stick with an automatic.... put a 99-02 2.4L or 02-05 2.2L Ecotec with the 4-speed auto (4T40E) and swap the engine bay harness and PCM.
If you want a 5 speed, you have to weld in the mounts. No easy way around it.
but how much power, accel, etc. would i lose by stayin with the auto??
