ok, i got all the parts from a 98 2200 for my 5spd swap into my 96, but here are the questions i can NOT find any answers too! and YES i have done numorus searches too!!!
1) will my 3spd engine harness from my 96 work with the 98 5spd ecu, i know i can retro fit it to fit the 5spd, but i have no clue if the ecu will work with the harness!.
2) i have another 2200 auto parts car, can i use the rear mount from that as a front mount for the 5spd?
3) are the rear tranny mounts from the auto, the same as the 5spd's?
4) will i need to rewire my SFAC for use with the 98 ECU?
i need to know these answers very very soon, as for i am dooing the 5spd swap this week!
if the answer to all 3 questions are no, looks like me and the junk yards are gona be really good friends for a day! lol
i also posted this over in the transmission forum, and no one can answer these questions! (and i need to know this info like right now! lol)
oh yeah, where can i find the 90's & "T's" for a log style turbo manifold?

Having done the swap myself from auto to manual in my 95, i can try and help answer you quesrions.
1. As for the year difference on the ecu, i'm not 100% i just got the same year ecu but from a manual. Does it have the same number of connectors? there may also be some difference with egr,s i''m not an expert in that area.
2. no
3. no, the manual transmission mounts are not at all like the auto mount. you need to use a chissel, or something like that to pry off the one automatic transmission mount, and then you need to get two manual transmission mounts. you will then need to take measurements from a manual car's frame to see exactly where to weld those onto your subframe.
4. no, unless you have to change the engine harness because the 98 ecu doesn't work with your engine harness.
Okay heres what you need to know:
the 1995 engine uses a vaccum controlled EGR valve and 1996 and up uses an electric EGR valve, so youll need to change the harness or your have a unfunctional EGR valve. The tranny mounts are different, you need to cut the auto one off the frame, becuase itll lhit the 5 speed tranny on install, and then youll have to cut off 5 speed mounts from another car and weld them on. MAKE SURE U MEASURE PROPERLY!!! very important. ECU will also need to be changed because harness connectors going into the ECU are different sizes, and then after all that youll have to reprogram you passlock so you can restart your car.
