Ok, so I wan't to make some serious power out of my engine. Problem is, I don't have another mode of transportation.
So, I was wondering if it would make more sense to pull a 2.4 (or 2.3 if a swap wouldn't be to tough) out of a "total" and work on it on my spare time rather than try to hastly put together an engine one peice at a time?
I've been trying to do some research, and I figure that if I use the 2.4 I'll need these things...
- 2.3 HO intake mani
- 2.3 HO heads
- "Secret Cam" swap
- P&P heads(?)
- Larger intake & Exhaust valves
- Stiffer Valve Springs
- Overbore the block
- Higher compression pistons (10:1 or 11:1)
- Forged Rods
- Standard bolt-ons
I know I'll need piston rings, gaskets, and those sorts of things as well, but, would I need a different crankshaft or would the stock crank work ok? I plan on going NA with this, or maybe some juice to help it out a bit.
Now...is there anything I'm missing?
Thanks for the help and any input.
You have a 2.4 now, why not add bolt ons then when something goes, then upgrade the internals? As for the HO Intake manifold, gains are still negotible, no one's got dyno results saying it is better or not. As for the Cams, get some Custom ground, .375@200 for both or better.
The 2.3L Head isn't the same shape as the 2.4 IIRC
