2.3 HO Intake Manifold Question
Thursday, July 20, 2006 11:29 AM
Ok I just got my 2.3 HO Intake Manifold today in the mail. I opened the box and from first glance it looked like the right one. But then I started looking it over and everything is the same except for one thing that I'm not to sure about. Where the fuel line attatches to from the fuel rail is not in the same place as in pictues on JBO and Quad4 forums. Infact where it is on the mani in the pics there is nothing there. So I decided to look up the part number on it, and it is 25538691. It checks out as a 2.3 HO Inake Manifold, but on the bottom where the part number is, there is what looks like where I would plug the fuel rail into. I will try and get some pictures of it for you all to see. But if anybody knows, is that just a diffirent location for the fuel rail line? Or is that something else? If anybody has this Inake Manifold what did it come off of? Thanks for the answers.

Ok great that is what I was thinking it was. But now I have another question. I have been reading both guides on how to do the swap. But the only thing I'm confused on is when it comes to modding the Manifold to fit the 2.4. The pictures shown where to drill and slot the holes but I really still don't understand. What do you mean by slotting the lower holes, and drilling the upper holes lower? Can somebody explain this to me please.

If you look at the pics of the machined manifold, look at the bottom 2 bolt holes, they need to be "extended" all the way out. the upper 2 bolt holes need to be slotted a little bit lower. its not extreamly important that theses holes are perfect. Your still going to have the 2 holes on each end and the center hole on the manifold to be lineing up the manifold with the head. these modified holes are basiclly just appling pressure.

It's been a while since I posted this pic, but it's really helpful for pointing out differences in manifolds.

The top two manifolds are HO's. The one on the left has been welded and decked to be matched to the 2.4 ports. It's also been redrilled. You can compare it to the top right manifold to see what has been redriled.

Lower left is a 2.3 LO manifold. I'm not sure what years it was used, but I think it was ditched in favor of the log style. Sorry I don't know more about it.

As far as the IDI cover, ask Skillz. He's got one too.
