Question : Disconnecting Oil Pressure Sensor
Thursday, July 20, 2006 8:19 AM
Im disconnecting the stock oil pressure sensor because I have it tapped for a turbo feed. Does anyone know if the car will run okay with out it? Or will the ECU shut the motor off if its not seeing any oil pressure? Im guessing theres a way I could possibly solder in a resistor to fool it. If It doesn't work I guess Ill have to get a T fitting and an adapter to hook it back up.

It shouldn't, seeing as the sensor is only for the dummy light on the gauge cluster.. But I could be wrong.

On my 2200 I used the tap on the block for my oil pressure sender and it ran fine..

Why would you want to move an important sensor? Just get a T.

Important sensor. It only tells when you are like really low of oil. If someone has a tuner they would keep a check on oil levels daily anyway..

Right now I have a full sweep Autometer plugged in there, so its not like I really need the stock pressure sensor. I guess well find out I just like to have everything figured out before I try to start the car for the first time and it doesn't run. Thanks for the info. Maybe someone could go unplug theirs for me and let me know? LOL

The safety is supposed to turn off your fuel pump if you drop oil pressure. In order to save the engine. It will let you restart the car because when the engine isnt running...... there's no oil pressure. So if it never sees pressure, it may not kill the pump. But, you'll probably get some warnings about it.
