Ok I'm a noob. Looking for answers. Somebody who goes online and knows alot give me your screenname or something cause I need help.
What can you take off of the car to make it lighter?
What can you replace?
Does taking the back seats out make that much of a difference?
HELP A NOOB.
rear seat, i wouldn't worry about the actual ass cusion cause it weighs in about 1.5 pounds and its alot comfier while... okay nevermind. but yea, get a carbon fibre trunklid cause that thing weighs a ton. aftermarket seats, ones that aren't adjustable weigh less but are annoying. any sound deadning material.
also search in the perfomance forum, click the exclude replies button. then look at some results, there was a good one goin last month.
all the sound deadening weights less then 2 lbs in the whole car. If you can remove the passanger side airbag, that will save you much more wieght.
you cant take 100 lbs out of 1 place in the car but u can take 10lbs out of 10 spaces in the car.
pretty much alot of lil things that you dont need. plus spare tire and jack.. gets expensive when you start doing carbonfiber or fiberglass parts.
take out the whole back seat, ALL the carpet, sound deadner, center console, door panels, back side panels, spare tire and your looking at around 150 lbs. of dead weight gone.
i think that if you go to a optima red top they are like 10lbs or so lighter than stock. You could do lightweight rims and when you buy tires check the weight on those too my 15" yoko tires are 19lbs. Take your front speakers out if you want the back suffice for me.Hood insulation, stock airbox (if you have dont have an intake youll need one)the bong if you havent taken it out already.AC if you (or your friends) can stand the heat. A lightweight pulley will save you about 4lbs and youll pick up some power. Im pretty sure most exhaust systems weigh less than stock. Stock radio weighs more than most aftermarket head units. I think that slotted rotors also weigh less than stock rotors and will also give you a tiny bit of gain of power at the wheels.

Ok i got more after reading your profile. If you wanted to go even more in depth you could buy a lightened flywheel and pressure plate whenever or in the future when your clutch goes out. Take your glove box door off and strip the plastic off and drill holes in the metal ( might save you a whole 2lbs but whatever) Upper and lower motor mounts might weigh less if anyone knows please reply. Mudflaps weigh about 2lbs and are ugly remove those. Your front bowtie fascia that goes on grille could be removed ( if you want your car to look like a beater) maybe a lb there. Your side moldings can also be removed less than a pound but looks better to some. Lightweight alt pulley. Oh yeah if your down with the whole "beater" thing than you could wash you car with salt water and let it rust some weight off. Alright im done.
15.4 @ 89mph
the stock rear seat weighs in at 32lbs, jack and spare weighs in at 38lbs, rear bumper brace weighs in at 32lbs, driver and pass front seats weigh in @ 78lbs for the pair so ditch the pass or get new racing seats
Man, everyone wanting a lightweight car. I just went through my 04 recently and added about 2 rolls of sound deadener. Ohh it may weigh more now, but the car sounds soo much better. You can always go on a diet! That gets the car's weight down and gets you healthier.

when you beat someone in a civic people wine and make excuses
when you beat someone in a cavalier they pull over and check under thier hoods
I sound deadener weighed in at 16 lbs of what I put in........ nothing wrong with that if you find the same amount to remove elsewhere.
