plugs running too hot?

well, lets just start by saying that i properly indexed these plugs, while the head was off, so i could actually see where the electrodes were in relation to the combustion chamber. now, after the engine has been rebuilt, i haven't had any problems with any of the components. but now, just because i was bored, i pulled my plugs and this is what they looked like (all of them)

they are Bosch platinums, but to me they seem really ashy, especially since they have about 8,000 miles on them. if I'm wrong let me know, but it just doesn't seem normal...

Ashen is normal, as long as you don't have metal specs on the ceramic. That 's an indication of detonation, but the PCM will pull ignition timing to fight the knock of detonation, hence cutting power.
