I have an o3 cav and i found someone selling a ecotec block for 50 bucks and i wanna turbo my car anyways is this a start to an engine build and is putting everything together alot harder than just buying a build kit from jbody performance and having a shop put them on? what would have to be put into this build? parts and money and time and difficulty?
If you want to boost it with high PSI numbers it would be a good to build up the internals of the engine to support it, if you will only be running 6-8PSI it would be okay to just bolt the turbo onto your existing engine. I just bought a 2.4 to start my buildup and I'm going to pick it up in a few hours. It depends on how much money/time you want to spend. if you can live with the stock setup for a month or 2. spend the time and money to make your engine bulletproof and then boost the $#!^ outta it. you won't regret it.
hes right if your going to re-build.....go BIG , then anything you wanna do you can because with a fully built engine the possibilitys are endless, there are people who have full titanium and forged internals who run 18psi off a super or turbo plus a splash of nitrous for @!#$s and giggles. theres a guy in tampa with a super/turbo charged celica..the thing is nuts. he started out just buy building his bottom end to be "bullet proof" and got ideas and went from there, granted he sunk 17,000 $ into his engine but the thing runs high 8's on no nitrous.
My god...titanium internals! Whats this world coming too!
The cylnder head must have been gold plated too....for less air resistance!
That is a insane engine.
Speed is just a question of $$...how fast you want to go!

I wanna go fast with a hahn turbo intercooled and hopefully no nitrious, what should this build consist of? i mean i dont wanna spend 20,000 but i wanna have my engine done by this time next year and maybe drop 5 or 7,000 into it where do i start what parts and where to buy them from? what could the horse power be around before the turbo?

No such thing, with the wrong tuning, you will blow up any "bullet proof" engine.
Ok not bullet proof but good enough to run maybe 12 psi? what types of parts and which specific parts? and where should i buy them from
You should be able to run 12 psi of boost on your stock ecotec engine using a smaller turbo.
It all depends on the tuning.
Ofcourse, you can not go grab a GT42R and run 12 psi because I dont even think your stock engine would be able to push a turbo that large.
I can run 12 psi on stock internals? well if i were to change my pistons, rings and rods and crackshaft would that help my turbo alot and add more hp?
It's not really about "adding hp and helping your turbo". More like... making your engine less prone to blow up. Replacing all the stuff you mentioned wouldn't "give" you more hp. It would ALLOW you to have more hp without anything breaking. If you do it will be alot safer and more reliable with the right tuning.
