Hi ive tryed to do the math but it didnt work out some please bear with me . Im trying to see if i can get Flat Top pistons with 11:1 Compression and HO Cams to fit properly will there be any clearance issues ? or what is the difference in performance with pistons with Valve Seats and Flat top ? im just trying to get good performance . thanks ...

with my guess it is, i havent heard of any clearance issues, if there is any clearance issues you local machine shop can mill the piston so the vlaves wont hit

if the machine shop messes with the piston would that screw around with the compression ?

yeah it would. That's bad info from KavyKid. It would not only lower the compression but it can create weak spots and sharp edge that promote pre-ignition.

When you order your pistons, you order them with valve relief. The company you order them from will make the groove on the pistons. That's why you have to fill a big order sheet.

Stock compression with the 2.4 is 9.5:1 and 9.7:1 with flat top pistons. So to go with 11:1, you'll need a dome top with valve relief.

You'll need a dome of 7.5CC including valve relief to get 11:1 compression at 0.030 over.

Ok Great .. thanks. do you know the equations to getting those numbers ? i want to learn how to figure out stuff like this for myself, or is there a website ? To my understanding so far 11:1 Flat top= a dome of 7.5CC including valve relief to get 11:1 compression at 0.030 over. same performance right ? thanks again

you can check www.rosspistons.com for the calculation. It's easier than doing it by hand.

You can't get 11:1 with a flat top piston in a 2.4. Flat and dome pistons can react differently.

Also, a flat top may be a bit better on horsepower since there's no added weight from the dome.
