Blower Fan in air Intake
Wednesday, May 03, 2006 11:02 AM
Ok I have a question, I dont know what it will do but the idea is to place a Small Electric blower fan (on a switch) inside the stock air intake tube of a chevy caviler. That is placing the fan after the filter and before the engin. Any one ever heard of this? I'm not talking about a Cyclone, or a tornado Fuel saver system The theory is that the fan will blow more cooler air into the engin. Like a forced induction only with a fan. What do you think? Dumb Idea or Does it sound ok??

I believe you're talking the electric supercharger, supposedley the testers got a 10% horsepower increase or whatever. It's crap, Assuming you got the 10% increast, what would happen if one of those little fan blades flew off and lodged itself in your throttle body....

Do you know what you run with them, or how much of a power gain you have gotten??

A computer fan won't do squat. I work with computers every day, often fixing them. Even the most powerful fans available, such as Delta 120x38MM fans, are pathetic compared to a turbocharger, or even those ebay "electric supercharger" blowers. They are designed for high flow, low noise, and most importantly, LOW PRESSURE. The idea of a turbo / super is to boost pressure, so having a low pressure fan will not help at all.

If you want to see how poor the pressure handling of a PC fan is, try putting your fingers across (not into!) the input and/or output of the fan. It will start spinning very quickly and won't move any air. The amount of air an engine uses in a few seconds is probably hundreds of times as much air as the fan can move in a minute.

Uhmmm... I'm pretty sure he's being sarcastic....

I have seen a dyno run from a civic that apparently gain 10hp when they duct-taped an electric leaf blower up to the intake... LOL

Your engine can suck air faster than the thing can blow.

Wow that sounded dirty

WOULD THIS BE BETTER THEN.......

1. take your engine intake, cut some holes in the hood so it can come out.
2. watch the movie Road Warrior, about 15-20 Times(maybe more as needed)
3. Then copy what they did, with parts and pieces sticking out of the hood.
4. The bigger the contration gets on the hood, the faster youll go.
5. Dont forget to put a skull(metal of course) on the front of the hood.
6. You're good to go, no further mods will be needed.
7. Wait, Dont forget the axle out of a F-350 P/U in the Rear(4 Tiresl, not 2)=better traction.

Bottom line is that this is a bad idea and won't work.
