Got a bit of a stupid question here...

what's the diameter of a stock 2.2l ecotec throttle body and would it bolt up to a 2200 without an assload of customization and/or machining?

58mm, not sure how well they match up.

why not just do the 56mm swap from the 2.3?

1) i like having cruise control
2) i'm considering boost in the summer, and i wanted something a little bigger than 56mm, and i also refuse to give the theives at rsm $400 for a 62mm.
3) i'm trying to avoid to avoid having to do any machining whether i get my stock tb bored about, or i have a 56mm boared out.

on that note, i'm already pretty sure of what i would like to do with a throttlebody.

having said that, does anybody know if an 2.2l ecotec throttle body will fit a 2200?

and not sound like a dick but, if you really don't know the answer, don't post.

1) you can bore out your stock TB to whatever size you want so you can have CC
2)and if you want a 62 mm. just go to a junkyard and get a spare TB and have that one bored out to 62mm so you can still drive your car
3)either pay to have yours bored out or get butt raped and pay $400 for one

i was tryin to avoid it, but that looks like what im gonna have to do. the only thing i'm unsure about is where i can get a bigger throttle plate to fit the bigger diameter. autozone maybe?

The shop thats machining the TB should be able to make a new plate, either out of aluminum(optimum) or brass, which is commonly used on the aftermarket ones for are cars.
