Quick question re:cheap mufflers/resonator deletes

Hi everyone, just looking at my muffler but couldnt tell, does it unbolt from the rest of the exhaust or is it welded on? Either way, what size input should I be looking for if I want to bolt an aftermarket muffler on to the stock exhaust? 2.25"?

Second question, does anyone ever eliminate their resonators in the stock exhaust? My friend did it on his Maxima, just cut out the resonator, slide an exhaust tube over and clamp it on. Anyone do that on our cars?

I was happy when I heard my car ran 10s. Then I found out that was 0-60.

I eliminated the resonator on my exhaust. To me it's pointless, it doesn't really help or hurt to have it unless you want the exhaust to be quiet and smooth. Most aftermarket kits don't have a resonator from what I've seen. The stock exhaust pipe is 1 7/8" or 2", depending on who you ask. But just putting an aftermarket muffler on the stock exhaust won't do anything but make it louder. You're better off replacing all the pipe from at least the cat back, and a header and hi-flow cat is even better.
