Anybody know if a MSD 8912 can be used for Cam Syn on the Ecotec?

I am pretty sure this is not the cam signal you need, I don't think this thing provides a cam signal at all, but maybe I am wrong.
For it to be able to provide you with a cam signal it needs to pick it up off the cam or through the ECU, cause that damn thing obviouslly gets it from somewhere.
