What kind and type of oil do you use?
Thursday, March 02, 2006 8:30 PM
I've always used quater state or vavoline, and the reccommended 5w30. But, its never goes below 0 (32) in Vancouver (rarely if it does) and would i benefit from a 10w30 for 1/4mile runs (longevity)? Or will 10w30 be too thick and hinder performance.

Opinions etc are welcome.

Nate

quaKer sate. vaLvoline.

in the manual, im pretty sure it says go up to 10 30 if you live in climate that stays above 0. i live in toronto cold in the winter hot as hell in the summer so i use 5 30

i use castrol syntec w/ quaker state filter. seams to work good

i guess i should change in the sumer but its not good to change viscosity. so you should stick with 5 30. thikcer oil=less HP too. also when rtacing the weight will be the same since theyre both x-30. (5W = normal running weight. 30=weight when the oil is under alot of heat)

5w30 amsoil for me nate... found it far superior to other synthetics out there (was running mobil1 or syntec before).

and the car doesnt get driven in the cold... you can just imagine the havoc all the retirees in vic cause when snow hits

I run Castrol Syntec in my car and I am in Colorado where the weather changes just as fast as you can turn the knob on a tv so I stick with 5W30 year round. I am not to sure if I noticed a different with the syntec but I figured why not do something good for my baby.
