Ok, so I've got an MSD DIS-2, the older version with the DIP switches not the dials. The questions I have are:
How important is the cam sync generator, i'm having a B&*ch of a time finding one, even the MSD website you can't buy from them.
What's the best plug set up? MSD says non platnium starting at .050 gap, but they are very careful not to tell you what or how to set things.
The car is a daily driver, what should the switches be set at, again MSD trys to say as little as possible about what these SHOULD be set at, since you guys have been there I figured a little input would be nice.
I guess MSD doesn't know too much about installing these on the eco's because when I asked them about it, they told me that I needed 2 of the coil adapters, but, running stock coils, you don't need the adapters as pointed out in the handy little install guide that was written by someone on here (whom of which I can't recall the name sorry)
Any help would be wonderful.
Thanks!

the cam sync is very important, it wont work right without one you need msd-8914 for that, go to summit racing they have them
Msd doesnt even know how to hook up their own system on an eco, use either stock plugs or srt 4 plugs at .035-.045 gap
as for the install guide that might be me

actually..that's the write up that I've got (very handy, thanks!)
Thanks for all your help, whatever you can get me on those dips would be wonderful..I'll have to get me a set of those SRT-4 plugs and I'm off to summit right now to get me that cam sync. I've got napa ICM plugs on order..if they ever get around to actually PULLING the parts...it's been 4 days now and they are still pulling..getting impatient..ehhe
Thanks again!

hey rodimus, quick question/opinion...NGK makes a set of iridium for the SRT-4s that run 1 step colder, would that be better than a set of stock srt plugs?

if your not boosted stick with the champion srt4 plugs or stock ac delco plugs

not to thread jack just didn't see the need to start a new thread do you happen to know if that write up is good for the 2.4 also seeing as how they have pretty much the same type of ignition set up I've been thinking about doing it my self but can't really afford to screw up the ignition system seeing as how its my daily driver
I was talking about coil packs wires and all that good stuff
Exactly what I was talking about. It's on NY J-bodies. 6 wire hookup.

oh ok last time I looked at their write up it was only talking about using stock coil packs
To Date ive never worked with a 2.4 I cant imagine its all that different but I dont have the schematics to verify

if the car isnt boosted and you use high end NGk or different exspensive plugs,
is it hard on it or what could it do?
jus curious... not tryna sound like a idiot

Sorry to piggy back this thread, can anyone help me with the same DIS 2 install on a 2000 2.2L(2200) engine? Does the NY-Jbody site have the instructions for the 2.2?
Thanks for any help
Jeff
I don't think I need a full step by step of the install, just need to know the following:
1) Do I need to put in the trigger switch and the momentary push button as MSD suggest or can that be bypassed?
2) Which connector is the 12V on the coil interface module, left or right with the wires facing down?
3) Ideal stop to mount the DIS 2 unit?
hey Rodimus Prime, if I may bother you one (hopefully) last time
I'm all set up and ready to install tomorrow, my last questions come from a few posts I've seen about the cam sync, is the way listed on your install help site current or are/is there a better way to install it?
Also, what's the best spark gap for the srt-4 plugs?
Thanks again man!

im running 040 feels kinda flat compared to the stockers maybe i need 035
you need to strip the insoluation off the end of the cam sync wire to read the bootplug

Thanks yet again. I wasn't sure if there were supposed to be any wires cut as mentioned by you in another post or not
"a well tuned engine should never have a code, the trick is that you have to strip off about 3 inches of the insoluation on the cam sync wire wrap it around the plug boot make sure that it does not touch any metal,
also cut the brown and white wire going into the ICM this is your CSI pickup you will want to make sure that the ICM side isnt connected anymore and the output from the msd cam sync is hooked into the PCM side of the wire,"
The write up says to just jumper the brown and white
I'll jumper it for now until I hear back.
Thanks a million!
