Engine Mounts...
Monday, February 13, 2006 2:00 PM
Im getting an upper and lower engine mount for my cav soon. Ive been looking around, and all the prices are very decent. But im just wondering if theres a specific brand or what that i should go with. I know that different flexibility/stiffness of the urethane effects it more or less, and i want the most gains i can get. Im just wondering if theres a place that any of you recomend getting them from. Im looking at prolly getting them from karo and carcustoms...

www.gravanatuning.com

Your looking for either prothane, or RKsport. They are the same damn thing. If however you find the ones with the yellow Poly in them, send them towards me, those would be the mark pain ones. To bad they are not made anymore.

BTW, i have nothing against karo or car customs, i just use gravana personally.

Understanding they don't make the Mark Pain ones anymore, but what is the difference? I have some idea, just seeing if it is correct. Is it stiffer than the ones now?

the mark pain ones are softer, hence less vibes. but i heard the material he used dont last long.
the ones listed on Carcustoms, Gravana, RSM, etc etc are all the same. maybe slight differnce in price and color. thats about it

I installed my RK Sport upper & lower about 2 weeks ago and I love em, and I don't notice much vibration at all. I can't wait to drop the trans for the Team Green LSD then I'll put in my poly tranny mounts too.

2000 Z24 5spd header & catback for now.

I'll be going through Turbotechracing.com. I've had only good experience there.

Hope you have better luck than me with the tranny mounts. MIne vibrates really bad now.

I have both the motor and tranny mounts installed in my car for a little over a month now. It does seem to have a nicer feeling on my takeoffs and when shifting fast or spinning the tires you notice it doesn't hardly move as much as it did before. The only thing is if you econo shift and its a little to low of an rpm for the gear it will really rattle the heck out of your dash and stuff I noticed. But those of you with the automatics if you don't want a rattleing dash you may just want to stay away from them because say you come to a stop sign or stop light it just shakes the entire car because the engine is still trying to go. Thats just my experience with them. Also I ordered mine from carcustoms as well. Fast shipping and an awesome guy to buy from.
