HO manifold intake?
Friday, January 27, 2006 7:27 PM
alright I'm sure we all know that at one point the cavalier z24 had a 2.3 in it. Okay.

I'm going off by what I know here.

1995 was equipped with the HO manifold.

okay..

I could swear up and down that nobody makes an intake for it... but correct me if I'm wrong...

http://www.ajusa.com/cgi-bin/Stores/AEM/Product?ajr_skey=0a245c87c50f644aa43fc1ad0bd8f48d&year=1995&make=Chevy&model=Cavalier+Z24

isn't this the intake that would work with the HO manifold?

I ask because I live in california, I'm working against enough odds as it is, Can somone verify the existence of this "carb legal" intake for my HO manifold equipped car? I've been told nobody makes one.

(thanks kenny)

rofl, a cold air intake isnt going to make sweet @!#$ all for a difference when it comes to visual or emissions testing...

Explain this to me? ^^^

Carb legal parts are allowed in california... that's why they're carb legal are they not?

oh I forgot. Aim speak...

Rofl,

I'm just curious because a friend of mine brought this to my attention.

You have to consider that here in cali you can't have any mods done to your engine less engine mounts, that isn't carb legal. So when and if we get pulled over and we have a homemade intake we can get a ticket so YES it does make a differance!

I don't believe there are any "ho manifold" carb legal intakes.

no I know what it means tom. I meant that I forgot to put it in my reply haha thanks tom I thought so too but I just wanted to make sure.

Anyone else have 2 cents?

I'm still waiting for manitoba's response there.

Hehe,
No,
Those intakes listed won't work with your HO mani.

Maybe EXTREME LATE model 95.

But those are the standard AEM intakes for the 96-02 2.4L engines.

try this one with a 90* elbow on the straight end ...you may have to hack a couple inches off though..depending on what pipe you get

People are thick on this site............

Anyways, I think the AEM intake would be good, but since you will have to cut the intake down to just the S-shaped part, you might be better off buying one that is CARB approved and is just the S-bend. I think weapon-R is an S-bend, and i know for sure the the Iceman intake for 2.4L is an S-bend, but since it has a different design (being platic and all) it might not work out.

This intake is CARB approved.

I dont know if this intake is CARB approved, it just says some are. so who knows.

And then theres the AEM intake you posted.

I know I still have my old injen at home. I bet I could find a way to make that work. I'll have to think about it though because the injen wai is of an akward design, but it should work. I'll have to take a closer look a it.

you know. come to think of it. I am looking to get supercharged someday, this would just be a waste of cash.

I mean right now I have a short rubber elbow with a K&N, it's really not that bad, it's the same short elbow found on the 2.3's. where the IAT sensor also has a place to plug into also.

Eh maybe I'll focus on something productive. like paining my interior.. or hell. fixing that cracked dash. thanks for all your comments though, but eh doesn't seem like a project that's in dire need of completion.

um just one thing the 95 z24 5spd was a 2.4 the auto was a 2.3 last 2.3 in a cav, but it did not have the H.O. intake on it, it had the L.O. intake, there is a bit of a difference

the only motor offered in any GM car that was a quad 4 in 1995 models was the 2.3L LD2. The 2.4L LD9 wasnted used untill the 1996 models.

The jbodies in 95 wouldnt have had the HO intake manifold on there LD2, but some older LD2s, mainly pontiacs, i am told could be found with an HO manifold on a LD2 motor.
